Board approves consent items, introduces $37.2M road-and-bridge bond and backs Assembly Bill 4872

The Hudson County Board of County Commissioners on Feb. 13 approved routine minutes and consent-agenda items, introduced two ordinances for further consideration and voted to support Assembly Bill 4872.

The board introduced a bond ordinance that would appropriate $37,199,047 for 2025 road and bridge improvements, declaring $12,670,000 in expected federal grants and $12,811,065 in expected state grants and authorizing the issuance of $10,556,649 in bonds or notes to finance any remaining costs. The ordinance was approved for introduction via roll call.

Separately the board introduced an ordinance to amend park permit violations and penalties. Commissioners asked county counsel to research whether the ordinance would impose additional insurance or other costs on local groups and nonprofits; counsel agreed to report back at the next meeting.

The clerk added Resolution No. 30—a measure expressing support for Assembly Bill 4872—to the agenda. Commissioner William O'Dea sponsored the resolution with Commissioner Jerry Walker seconding; the roll call recorded affirmatives from Commissioners Aponte‑Lipski, Baselice, Cedeño, Cifelli, O'Dea, Rodriguez, Walker and Chairman Romano. Commissioner Kopacz was not recorded as voting in the roll call on the record (noted absent). The board adopted the resolution as entered on the agenda.
