The resolution, read into the record and approved by unanimous roll call, summarized Brown's organizing work since 1987, his role in expanding membership and negotiating contracts that improved wages and health coverage for building service workers, and his contributions to passage of the Hudson County Standard Wage and Benefits Ordinance and the Healthy Terminals Act. The board noted that Brown will become district director of New England District 615 of SEIU 32BJ in 2025.
"He has worked tirelessly to improve the lives of all working people in New Jersey," the written resolution said. County officials who spoke in support praised Brown's leadership and accomplishments; a county official said Brown "has a much-deserved, well-deserved promotion," and commissioners joined in extending best wishes.
The resolution was adopted by roll call vote. The board's commendation recognizes Brown's local advocacy on wages, health benefits and bargaining outcomes that the county said delivered meaningful improvements for service workers.
