Bay Minette City Council approves routine spending, proclamations and resolutions; takes ordinance on first reading

Bay Minette Mayor Joshua O. Brown called the City Council to order Jan. 20 at City Hall and the council quickly moved through routine business, approving minutes, a large accounts-payable batch and a slate of event and appropriation measures.
The council unanimously approved revised accounts payable totaling $436,829.02 after a motion by Councilmember Chris Norman Sr., seconded by Councilmember Tyrone Thompson. Mayor Brown also asked for and received unanimous approval of the Jan. 5, 2026 minutes after a motion by Thompson and second by Mayor Pro Tempore Pete Sellers.
Mayor Brown proclaimed January 2026 as Human Trafficking Awareness Month and presented the proclamation to Interim Police Chief Jimmy Stracener, who accepted it on behalf of the Child Trafficking Solutions Project and the Children's Aid Society of Alabama.
