At the Jan. 5, 2026 meeting, Mayor Joshua O. Brown announced administrative items and appointments. He said all City of Bay Minette departments, except emergency personnel, would be closed on Monday, Jan. 19, 2026, for Martin Luther King Jr. Day and noted the next regular council meeting was set for Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2026. He also announced the rescheduling of the Sept. 8, 2026 council meeting to Thursday, Sept. 3, 2026.
Mayor Brown listed members of a Police Chief Search Committee, naming Lawrence Battiste as chairman and other members that include Councilmember Mike Phillips, Councilmember Chris Norman and several retired and former public-safety and community leaders. The minutes list committee members and roles but do not record a council vote on the committee; the mayor’s announcement is recorded as an appointment in the minutes.
Before a digital presentation by the Chamber, Kristina Pittman, executive director of the North Baldwin Chamber of Commerce, and Chip Gilliam spoke to the council. The Chamber requested a waiver of the license agreement fee and permission to apply for an ABC Board special events permit for its annual banquet on Feb. 24, 2026; the council approved that request at the same meeting.
The minutes record there were no citizen comments during the public-comment period. The meeting adjourned after recorded motions to adjourn.
