The Satsuma City Council approved contracting exterior cleaning of the Satsuma Community Center for $1,991.82 and granted a rental-fee waiver for Steele Creek Lodge to the Coastal Alabama Down Syndrome Society.
During public comment, Cody Chambless and other board members of the Satsuma Youth Association said 227 children are registered for spring activities and announced an opening ceremony scheduled for Feb. 28. Chambless told council the association received a quote of $9,500 to repair the fields and said the organization's bylaws have been updated and will be provided to the city.
Connie Wright of the Coastal Alabama Down Syndrome Society requested a waiver for a Dec. 13 event; the council approved the waiver on a motion by Councilmember Jason Skelton and seconded by Councilmember Bert Taylor.
