Board approves CSB FY24-25 performance contract amid staffing shortages and psychiatric-care gaps

The King and Queen County Board approved the FY24-25 performance contract with the Middle Peninsula Northern Neck Community Services Board (MPNNCSB) during its Aug. 14 meeting after an overview from CSB Executive Director Linda Hodges.
Hodges told the Board the CSB serves ten counties and highlighted that RISP programs are not part of the contract under consideration. She praised the county Sheriff’s Office for having the most Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) trained officers in the area but warned the CSB faces a roughly 40% employee vacancy rate and is having difficulty providing psychiatric services and care. Board member S. C. Alsop asked about veteran services and the availability of those supports.
On a motion by S. C. Alsop, seconded by J. L. Simpkins, the Board approved the FY24-25 performance contract; the vote was recorded as unanimous.
