Midway Council continues Storyboard sign decision, asks for detailed design

The Midway City Council voted unanimously on March 3 to continue consideration of a request to allow the historic sign structure at Storyboard, 201 East Main Street, to remain in use until the applicants present a specific design for the sign face.
Planning Director Michael Henke said municipal code allows certain historic sign structures to remain even if they do not meet current standards, but any new sign face must comply with applicable code. Applicants Galen DeKemper and Claire Carusillo presented sample materials and said they were working with Signarama Wasatch Back. Council members emphasized they wanted to review the proposed sign design before final approval and discussed tying sign design expectations to Swiss architecture and historic preservation goals for Main Street.
Council Member Andy Garland moved to continue the request until applicants returned with a more specific design; the motion passed unanimously.
