Camp Verde council asks staff to model 0.5%–1.5% TPT increases for possible bed tax change

At a special session on April 23, 2025, the Camp Verde Mayor and Council discussed options for increasing the town’s Transaction Privilege Tax (TPT) rate, sometimes described locally as a bed tax.
Town Manager Miranda Fisher told council members the staff had been asked to explore options for a TPT increase and provided an overview of existing revenue limitations, possible increase amounts, proposed next steps and the general implementation process for a municipal tax rate change.
Councilors asked questions and Fisher and Town Attorney Trish Stuhan responded. After discussion, the council directed staff to return with a range of proposed TPT rate increase scenarios, varying from 0.5 percent to 1.5 percent, for further consideration and analysis.
No formal vote was recorded in the April 23 minutes. The council’s direction requires staff to develop fiscal projections and implementation steps before the council would take any formal action on a rate change.
