Camp Verde council directs staff to outline appointment process after mayoral resignation

Town Manager Miranda Fisher told the council that Jenkins submitted her resignation on April 16 and that Moore took the oath of office as mayor the same day, creating an opening for the Vice Mayor and one council seat. Fisher said staff will prepare a detailed appointment and interview plan and return to the council with the proposed process.
Council members discussed preferences for how to fill the open council seat and the Vice Mayor role. The council directed Fisher to present a breakdown of the appointment and interview process at the May 7, 2025 meeting. The council also decided that at the May 7 meeting it will select a Vice Mayor from the five remaining councilmembers.
Town Attorney Trish Stuhan and Town Manager Fisher answered council questions during the discussion. No formal appointment or vote occurred at the April 23 session; the council’s action was a direction to staff to develop the process and timeline.
The next procedural step is Fisher’s presentation of the appointment plan at the May 7, 2025 council meeting, at which the council will also select a Vice Mayor.
