Camp Verde council accepts former mayor's resignation, seats Marie Moore and appoints Patricia Seybold

The Camp Verde Town Council on June 11 formally accepted the resignation of former Mayor Dee Jenkins and recognized Marie Moore as mayor, effective April 16, 2025, then unanimously appointed Patricia Seybold to fill the council vacancy.

Town Attorney Trish Stuhan told the council that Moore had taken the oath of office under Section 2-2-2 of the Town Code before the April 16 meeting and presented Resolution 2025-1185 to formalize Jenkins' resignation and Moore’s seating. Mayor Moore recused herself from the vote. On a motion by Councilor Brian Bolton, seconded by Vice Mayor Wendy Escoffier, the council approved Resolution 2025-1185; roll call showed five ayes and Mayor Moore recorded as recused.

The council then moved to fill the vacant council seat. Town Manager Miranda Fisher said a scoring committee interviewed seven candidates (one, Jerry Martin, withdrew) and unanimously recommended Patricia Seybold. Councilor Bolton moved and Vice Mayor Escoffier seconded the appointment; the council voted 6-0 to appoint Seybold to serve until the next general election. Town Clerk Leah Rhodes administered the oath of office to both Seybold and Mayor Moore during the meeting.

The council also reviewed and confirmed committee assignments and reached consensus on primary and alternate liaisons to represent the Town of Camp Verde on various boards and organizations. The meeting concluded with Mayor Moore proclaiming June 14, 2025, the 250th birthday of the United States Army and adjourning at approximately 6:15 p.m.
