Cusseta‑Chattahoochee County commission approves reappointments, 4‑H funding and DOT grant; tables CUP application

The Unified Government of Cusseta‑Chattahoochee County’s commission met Aug. 6 and approved a series of routine and program items while tabling one land‑use request.
In unanimous votes, commissioners reappointed Walter Miller and Linda (Lou) Beck to five‑year terms on the Industrial Development Authority and approved renewal and funding for the county 4‑H program. The commission also accepted a DOT roundabout relocation grant. Motions on these items were moved and seconded by sitting commissioners and recorded as unanimous.
Commissioners tabled a conditional‑use permit application for 110 Stagecoach Road "until Dec. 3, 2024, or judgment reached," after a motion by Commissioner Jason Frost and a second by Vice‑Chairman Timothy Biddle. Commissioner Damon Hoyte abstained from that vote.
During the open forum, resident Josh Abercrombie said repeated washouts and an exposed water line on Patterson Road had required multiple work orders and phone calls; he thanked public‑works staff for repairing the site but said the response took too long. County Manager Thomas Weaver said crews had made several trips and performed temporary repairs before completing the work.
The commission went into executive session for personnel and legal matters and reconvened without votes on the closed items. Commissioner Damon Hoyte told the room he had considered resigning after the election but decided to remain on the board.
