Commission considers Planning & Zoning board change, cemetery ordinance draft and infrastructure repairs

Weaver said two applicants had recently applied and that one current member expressed willingness to step down, but commissioners said they would review applications before making a final decision.
Attorney Bin Minter reported he is drafting a high-level cemetery ordinance intended to require recordkeeping by either the County Manager or County Clerk rather than creating a separate cemetery board. He and the manager also discussed attempting to recover records from past county auditors.
Weaver reported water-department activity including five service-line repairs in July, a scheduled four-year cleaning of Tank #2 by US Tank, continued work on the Firetower Road culvert and reopening of motor-grader work on Patterson Road. The county's external auditors were on-site in late July completing past financial statements and the manager said staff expected a comprehensive financial statement in the following weeks.
The commission also held and reconvened from an executive session (called at 10:29 a.m.) to discuss personnel and land matters; Chairman Coffey stated the subjects fit legal exceptions to the open-meetings law and that no votes occurred in closed session.
What happens next: the Planning & Zoning membership question and cemetery ordinance draft were added to a future agenda for legal review and potential action; the county will report back with auditor deliverables and project quotes.
