City Council Member Derek Dalton told the Planning Commission on Feb. 17 that Grantsville is moving forward with a revised $50 million bond structure for a planned wastewater treatment facility, an increase from previous estimates of roughly $30–$32 million.
Dalton said council staff are preparing for bonding and that preliminary rate projections tied to the larger bond include a possible 55% increase in the first year, followed by additional increases in the 20–30% range in later years. He encouraged Planning Commissioners to review the Council’s presentation and provided the wastewater update as an informational briefing for the Commission.
Community Development Director Bill Cobabe described the council’s public hearing process and noted no final decision had been made; the item remains with the City Council for formal action. Commissioners did not take a formal position during the Planning Commission meeting.
The council’s figures were presented as estimates; no bond ordinance or final financing plan was adopted at the Feb. 17 Planning Commission meeting. The City will hold a public hearing on the wastewater financing through the Council process; further details and formal decisions will be recorded in Council minutes.
