Summary
Iron County commissioners approved an MOU to upfit a retired county bus into an 'Ambubus' with the state, a UDOT billboard permit transfer to Parowan City, an MOU with the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers for artifact storage, a property‑tax deferral, two board appointments and multiple personnel moves.
At the Feb. 9 meeting the commission signed several administrative items and personnel actions.
Cassie Meredith, Iron County Emergency/Community Wildfire Specialist, explained an MOU with the Utah Department of Health and Human Services to retrofit a retired county bus into an 'Ambubus' for mass patient transport; grant funds will cover the upfit and county staff are coordinating stocking and staffing with Gold Cross. The commission approved the MOU.
Parowan councilmember David Burton described a UDOT billboard permit established in 1976 that was grandfathered on private property. Commissioners approved a letter of relinquishment and a transfer application so Parowan City and the Brian Head Chamber of Commerce can continue use under its original purpose.
Ellen Sorenson, president of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers, presented an MOU to memorialize continued courthouse‑basement storage of pioneer artifacts; commissioners approved the agreement, which places responsibility for placement and removal of items on the DUP.
County Clerk Jonathan T. Whittaker and Treasurer Nicole Rosenberg described a request to defer delinquent property taxes (APN D‑502‑11); the applicant had made three payments and officials said the property could not be removed from the May tax sale until a contract was signed. Commissioners approved the deferral.
Commissioners also appointed Steve Nelson to the Central Iron County Water Conservancy District board and Katherine Ross to the Tourism Advisory Board, and approved multiple personnel actions presented by HR Director Jennifer Bradbury, including promotions and new hires in the Attorney's Office, Sheriff’s Office, IT and Road Department. The personnel package passed with Commissioner Michael Bleak recorded as absent on that particular vote.
The meeting adjourned after routine nondelegated items were closed.
