City planner previews new Grantsville interactive GIS map to streamline zoning and parcel review

Grantsville’s GIS Analyst and City Planner Tae-Eun Ko presented an interactive city GIS map to the Planning Commission on Feb. 17, describing it as an effort to consolidate parcel and zoning information and reduce the need to switch between county and PDF resources.
Ko said the map includes 56 layers across utilities, transportation, community development, parks and reference features; it allows users to search by address, click parcels for property details, and view infrastructure such as water lines and fire hydrants. The tool is designed to improve staff review efficiency and public access on both desktop and mobile devices. Ko said the map had not yet been officially published but would be available soon and thanked City Manager Michael, Community Development and Public Works for their assistance.
Commissioners responded positively and suggested additional layers, including trailhead locations, parking overlays and right-of-way displays to support planning and coordination with county systems. Chair Sarah Moore and Vice Chair Jason Hill both praised the clarity the interactive display provides for zoning and parcel review.
City staff indicated they will continue to refine the map and coordinate publication timing with other departments.
