The Marquette County Highway Committee on Oct. 21 approved multiple administrative and procurement actions, including design contracts for two county trunk highway urban sections, authorization to place a county property on a surplus auction and the purchase of a replacement skid steer.
Committee chair Mike Raddatz called the meeting to order and, after routine approvals of the agenda and prior minutes, the committee addressed county project planning and equipment needs. Highway staff member Brian Trebiatowski told the committee he had received design contracts from Strand for the urban sections of CTH A and CTH D and requested authorization to proceed with design services totaling $82,000 ($42,000 for CTH A and $40,000 for CTH D). He told the committee that design costs are not eligible for LRIP reimbursement. Committee member Kathy Jo Locke moved to proceed; Lance Achterberg seconded and the motion carried.
The committee also approved a motion to list the Endeavor Shop property on an upcoming surplus auction. Brian said the building has been used primarily for equipment storage and that fleet consolidation allows storage to be centralized; John Bennett moved to list the property and Dave Benson seconded. The motion carried.
On equipment replacement, Brian requested approval to purchase a new skid steer to replace an aging Gehl unit that has increasing electrical issues and significant erosion. With trade-in and the screen deck factored in, the out-of-pocket cost to the county is $32,849.17 to be funded from the equipment operational account and the 2026 budget. Dave Benson moved for approval; Lance Achterberg seconded and the motion carried.
The minutes record the motions and that each motion "carried," but they do not include roll-call vote tallies. The design contracts will be billed monthly and projects will proceed when funding is allocated; the surplus property will be prepared for auction listing and the skid steer will be purchased from the 2026 budget as authorized. The meeting adjourned at 9:40 a.m.
