The Marquette County Board of Health voted on March 3, 2026 to approve a revised REHA fee schedule and send it to the County Board for inclusion in the county fee schedule. The motion to approve the agenda and later the fee schedule was moved by Dave Benson and seconded by Mike Raddatz; both motions carried.
Jayme Sopha, Health Officer/Director, reviewed the proposed 2026–2027 REHA fees alongside the 2025–2026 schedule and explained that the county must remit an increased percentage of some licensing fees to the State. Sopha identified several newly proposed fees, including Plan Review/Consultation (beyond pre‑inspection), Water Lab Testing, and a fee for Certified Food Protection Manager services; items marked “N/A” indicate there was no prior fee for that service.
Jessica Jungenberg, REHA manager / environmental specialist, placed those local fee changes in the context of state-level changes from the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP). Jungenberg said DATCP is implementing a two‑step fee-raising process — one step now and an additional lodging fee increase scheduled for 2028 — and described licensing reclassifications: Tourist Rooming Houses now have nine license types, motels and hotels have three new license types and a specialty lodging category, and recreational educational camps face new, tiered license types based on facility complexity.
The board’s action sends the REHA fee schedule to the County Board for final adoption and placement on the county fee schedule; no vote tallies were recorded in the meeting minutes.
