The Lunenburg County Planning Commission on Nov. 2 voted to recommend approval of Conditional Use Permit 9‑23 for Jonathan and Jessica Shelton to construct and operate a retail/shop and vehicle maintenance facility at 12570 Courthouse Road in Victoria.
Applicant Jonathan Shelton described his business history and the need for a shop to service his fleet. Shelton told the Commission he owns seven trucks and typically has five to seven on site on weekends, with service during the week as needed. Commissioners asked where trucks were currently serviced and clarified property description and access; Mrs. King and the applicant confirmed that the access road to the shop is pre‑existing.
Clerk Taylor N. King read three written public comments in support from Nancy Dalton (adjacent property owner’s family), Gene Hart (adjacent property owner) and Maria Liggins (family member of an adjacent owner). After candidate testimony and the read comments, Commissioner Shell moved to recommend approval; Commissioner Thompson seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
The recommendation will be forwarded with the conditions read into the record; the transcript contains no record of opposition at the Nov. 2 meeting.
