The Lunenburg County Planning Commission on Nov. 3 recommended that the Board of Supervisors approve recertification of an existing 250-foot wireless telecommunications facility and the installation of upgraded T‑Mobile equipment at 871 Long View Drive in Brodnax.
Luke Vinciguerra, representing SBA Communications, said the company owns the tower and requested recertification and authorization for upgraded T‑Mobile equipment. Vinciguerra provided a brief history of the tower, said the firm understands county ordinance requirements and suggested the county consider whether five-year recertification intervals remain appropriate.
Clerk Taylor N. Newton presented the staff report prepared by CTA Consultants. After commissioners discussed the application, Chairman James Tharpe said he did not see any issue with the request and that the facility is needed. Commissioner Trent moved and Commissioner Thompson seconded a recommendation that the Board approve the recertification and equipment upgrades; the motion was approved unanimously.
The recommendation will be forwarded to the Board of Supervisors for final action.
