King and Queen Board elects 2023 leadership, sets meeting schedule

The King and Queen County Board of Supervisors opened its first meeting of 2023 on Jan. 9, when County Administrator Vivian Seay called the session to order and the Board completed its annual organizational business. On motions by J. M. Burns and S. C. Alsop the Board elected R. F. Bailey Jr. chairman and J. M. Burns vice-chair for 2023; both votes were approved unanimously.
The Board also appointed Vivian Seay as clerk of the Board and Tina Ammons as deputy clerk for 2023. The Board adopted — citing Section 15.2-1416 of the Code of Virginia — a resolution fixing its regular meeting schedule: regular meetings will be held the second Monday of each month at 7:00 p.m. in the King and Queen Courts and Administration Building General District Courtroom, and the fourth Monday at 6:00 p.m. will be set for workshops and presentations. The resolution includes a procedure allowing the chairman or vice-chairman to continue a meeting for up to seven days if hazardous weather or other conditions make attendance unsafe.
Board votes were recorded in the meeting minutes; no roll-call opposition was recorded on these organizational items. The Board adjourned other routine organizational matters and moved to its scheduled agenda items.
