At its Feb. 2 meeting the Lowell Joint School District Board of Trustees approved contract amendments tied to the El Portal Elementary modular and shade-structure work.
The board approved Change Order No. 001 with Silver Creek Modular, LLC, for added cabinetry and related on-site work at El Portal Elementary, with a not-to-exceed value of $71,428.11 charged to the Measure P bond fund. The change order description in the packet lists the addition of two tall cabinets per classroom (24 cabinets total), demolition of existing tackboards and drywall prep, installation of steel backing, new drywall and tackboards, and associated labor and materials.
The board also approved an additional professional services agreement with Certerra RMA Group (referred to in the packet as RMA Group) for compaction testing, special inspection and project administration related to El Portal work, with an estimated not-to-exceed cost of $21,980 (Measure P bond fund). The RMA proposal breaks the cost down into compaction testing of trench backfill ($13,920), special inspection/testing of reinforced concrete ($5,360) and project administration/reporting ($2,700). Both approvals were recorded as unanimous (5-0) and the superintendent or designee was authorized to execute related documents.
The board packet includes the printed change-order estimate and testing proposal; both contractors' proposals note scheduling and billing terms. Trustees recorded the approvals under the consent agenda/motions and authorized staff to proceed.
