Fulton County approves $63,800 in state grants for adult probation and acknowledges retention stipend plan

Chief Probation Officer Dan Miller presented two state grant requests at the Dec. 9 Fulton County commissioners meeting and received unanimous approval.
Commissioners authorized Commissioner Randy H. Bunch to sign a 2025–2026 Intermediate Punishment Treatment Grant in the amount of $35,000 and a 2025–2026 Continuing County Adult Probation/Parole Grant in the amount of $28,800. Commissioner Steven L. Wible moved to authorize the Intermediate Punishment grant signature; Commissioner Hervey P. Hann moved to authorize the Continuing County Adult Probation/Parole grant signature. Both motions passed unanimously.
The board also acknowledged a Retention Efforts Letter from Dan Miller describing an approach to implement a staff stipend funded from a restricted portion of the monthly supervision fee. The minutes state that the restricted account funds “can only be spent by the President Judge for the Adult Probation Department.” The acknowledgment was recorded as agreed by the commissioners; further implementation requires action under the restricted-account rules and the President Judge’s direction.
Next steps include executing grant signature paperwork and fulfilling any state reporting requirements tied to the grants.
