Camp Verde council approves use of town bleachers for 2025 rodeo and derby after closed session

The Town of Camp Verde Mayor and Council met in a special session on Aug. 6, 2025, and after a closed executive session directed staff to allow the town bleachers to be used for the 2025 Vacte Derby and the 2025 Fort Verde Days Rodeo.
Mayor Marie Moore called the meeting to order at 5:00 p.m. and, following a motion by Councilor Jessie Murdock and a second from Councilor Robin Godwin, the council voted 7-0 to go into executive session under A.R.S. § 38-431.03(A)(3) and (A)(4) for legal advice and to consider its position in contract negotiations with the Camp Verde Arena Association. The roll-call vote recorded Mayor Marie Moore, Vice Mayor Wendy Escoffier, Councilors Brian Bolton, Robert Foreman, Robin Godwin, Jessie Murdock and Patricia Seybold as voting yes.
The executive session, with Town Manager Miranda Fisher identified as the staff resource and Town Attorney Trish Stuhan present for legal counsel, addressed the town’s negotiation position with the Camp Verde Arena Association. The council reconvened at 5:58 p.m., and Mayor Moore announced the council’s direction: “Council has directed to allow the Town bleachers to be used for the 2025 Vacte Derby and the 2025 Fort Verde Days Rodeo,” and stated, “Council supports the Town of Camp Verde equipment and lease policy.”
Council members also directed staff to set up a joint work session with the Camp Verde Arena Association board on the next available Wednesday when both the board and council can attend to follow up on lease and equipment arrangements. The council did not record a formal roll-call vote on those directions in the minutes; Mayor Moore presented them as the outcome of the closed-session discussions.
Mayor Moore adjourned the special session at 5:59 p.m. The meeting minutes were later certified by Town Clerk Leah Rhodes on Sept. 4, 2025. The work session scheduling and any subsequent agreements or lease documents will be recorded in future council minutes when finalized.
