Camp Verde council asks staff to explore expansion options for Clear Creek Cemetery

At the Sept. 24 special session, Councilor Robert Foreman told the Council that the Clear Creek Cemetery has reached capacity and has historical and cultural importance to the community. Foreman asked staff to investigate whether the U.S. Forest Service might donate or transfer roughly 5–10 acres adjacent to the cemetery to allow expansion and to consider extending the cemetery association’s use permit.
Town Manager Miranda Fisher confirmed she will engage the Forest Service and other appropriate parties to explore the legal and procedural steps required for a transfer or donation and to report back to Council. Foreman emphasized he was not asking the Town to acquire the site permanently but to assist with options to expand the cemetery footprint.
Council agreed that staff should pursue further discussions; no formal action, purchase, or transfer occurred at the Sept. 24 meeting.
