Buffalo County board approves routine contracts, audit bid, concrete repairs and tax exemptions

At its Aug. 9 meeting the Buffalo County Board of Commissioners approved several routine procurement and administrative items.
The board accepted the low auditing services bid from Dana F. Cole & Company, LLP for a one-year contract after an RFP opened July 26, 2022; the motion was moved by Sherry Morrow and seconded by Daniel Lynch and passed unanimously.
Facilities Director Steve Gaasch presented three informal concrete repair bids; the board awarded the low bid to B & S Concrete, LLC for $35,000 (moved by Sherry Morrow, seconded by Daniel Lynch). The board also authorized Chairman Klein to sign a service agreement with NMC Cat for generator service at the Highway building in the amount of $2,150 (moved by Timothy Higgins, seconded by Myron Kouba).
The board approved Special Designated Liquor Licenses for Bull & Barrel for an Aug. 27 event and for B&B Research and Investments LLC for events on Sept. 3 and Sept. 17. Payroll and a series of routine county reports (Treasurer’s Fund Balance, Clerk of District Court report, distress warrant reports) were ratified or accepted during the meeting.
County Treasurer Jean Sidwell presented motor vehicle tax exemption applications that the board approved for the University of Nebraska Foundation (2018 Toyota), Community Action Partnership of Mid-Nebraska (three vehicles; one commissioner abstained on that vote), and Evangelical Lutheran Good Samaritan Society (three vehicles). The minutes note Commissioner Myron Kouba abstained on the Community Action Partnership vote.
