Commissioners set public hearing for road plan, refer road-vacation petition and table NDOT agreement

Buffalo County commissioners reviewed road department business Sept. 13, set a public hearing for the county’s One and Six Year Road and Bridge Program, referred a road‑vacation petition for study and tabled an agreement with the Nebraska Department of Transportation for further review.
Highway Superintendent John Maul reviewed the county’s One and Six Year Road and Bridge Plans and the board set a public hearing for Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2022 at 9:45 a.m. so the public may comment on the 2022–2023 program. Commissioners also acknowledged receipt of a road petition to vacate a portion of road in Torrey Estates Subdivision and directed Superintendent Maul to conduct a study and report back within 30 days.
After discussion and review by Deputy County Attorney Andrew Hoffmeister, the board moved to table the agreement with the Nebraska Department of Transportation for Project No. NH‑80‑6(113), Gibbon to Shelton, until the Sept. 27 meeting and requested County Surveyor Trenton Snow be present for that discussion. The tabling preserves time for staff and the surveyor to address technical or mapping questions before the board acts.
All actions were made by roll call vote and carried. The One and Six Year Road and Bridge public hearing is scheduled for 9:45 a.m. on Sept. 27, 2022.
