Greer County Sheriff Steve McMahan met with the Board of County Commissioners on Dec. 1 and provided updates on staffing, recent grant activity and vehicle maintenance needs.
Sheriff McMahan reported to the board on staffing and ongoing grant work and noted maintenance needs for department vehicles. After the presentation, the board voted unanimously to approve the Boarding of Prisoners report submitted by the sheriff.
The motion to approve the report was made by Mark Barnes and seconded by Steven Fite; Chairman Brent York, Barnes and Fite each voted aye. The transcript records no further action on the department's longer-term facility proposal in this session.
The meeting record shows the board received the operational updates as information and recorded the boarding report approval as a formal action. No additional directives to staff or follow-up deadlines were recorded in the minutes for the sheriff's items.
The board recessed later in the meeting and continued with other agenda items.
