The Montevallo City Council approved the transfer of several Alabama Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) licenses for the convenience store at 4570 Highway 25 on Jan. 26.
Council Member David King moved to approve the transfer of licenses from Miraj, Inc., dba Montevallo Foods, to Prime Stop Foods, LLC; Council Member Kenneth Dukes seconded and the motion passed on a unanimous voice vote. Mayor Rusty Nix and all five council members were present for the vote.
The licenses listed in the application materials include Retail Beer (off-premises), Retail Table Wine (off-premises), a Lounge Retail Liquor — Class II (package) license, and a tobacco permit. The applications supplied confirmation numbers and transfer paperwork (sample confirmation numbers: 20251121134538894; 20251121150128605; 20251121152323740). City staff noted an on-site inspection by Chief Burr the previous week.
The new applicant is Prime Stop Foods, LLC; the contact and listed company president on the applications is Faiaz R. Daredia. The packet filed with the council shows Miraj, Inc., as the previous licensee and includes an agreement that the current licensee will not renew the license and the transfer documents required by the Alabama ABC Board (see appendices). Transfer fees documented in the ABC filings include $100 for certain license transfers and $50 for a tobacco permit transfer.
Council did not discuss conditions or impose restrictions during the meeting. No council member requested a continuance for further review, and no public comment on the licenses was made during the meeting.
The council’s action authorizes the city’s administrative endorsement of the transfer; final licensing remains under the authority of the Alabama Alcoholic Beverage Control Board and is subject to that agency’s review and issuance.
Next steps: the ABC Board processes the state transfer paperwork; the city retains copies of the submitted transfer agreements and inspection notes.
