Union County Prosecutor to apply for $350,000 ARRIVE Together grant for 2025–27

County Prosecutor William A. Daniel asked the Board during the Jan. 29 agenda-setting session to authorize the county manager to apply for and accept $350,000 from the New Jersey Department of Law and Public Safety under the SFY25 ARRIVE Together Program for the period July 1, 2025, through June 30, 2027.
Vice Chair Rebecca L. Williams spoke in support of the program, saying a neighbor who participated had positive feedback. Prosecutor Daniel told the Board that, according to program records cited at the meeting, "of the 600 calls received in Union County, none resulted in an excessive use of force." The item was presented for authorization as part of the agenda; the transcript records support for the program but does not record a final vote on the application in the agenda-setting session.
The ARRIVE Together program provides community-based alternatives and response services; the resolution authorizing application and acceptance would enable the county to receive and administer the SFY25 grant if approved.
