The Henderson City Council on Aug. 18, 2025, convened a special called meeting and moved into a closed session "pursuant to G.S. § 143-318.11(a)(6) Personnel Matter," a motion moved by Councilmember Tami Walker and seconded by Councilmember Sara M. Coffey that the council approved unanimously.
The meeting was called to order at 1:59 p.m. by Mayor Melissa Elliott in the R. G. “Chick” Young, Jr. Council Chambers at the Municipal Building, 134 Rose Avenue. The City Clerk, Tracey Kimbrell, recorded attendance; the clerk’s roll indicated a quorum and noted that Councilmembers Geraldine Champion and Michael Venable arrived shortly after roll call.
After the closed session, Councilmember Sara M. Coffey moved to reconvene in open session; Councilmember Geraldine Champion seconded, and the motion was unanimously approved.
