The Bedford County Board of Commissioners on Jan. 13 awarded professional engineering services for the Federal Fiscal Year 2024 CDBG BEAMA Waterline Replacement Project to Keller Engineers for $35,204 and approved a certification of county funds totaling $15,897 to the Pennsylvania Farmland Preservation Program.
CDBG Administrator Jeffrey Fellers presented the selection process for the engineering award; the board moved to award the contract to Keller Engineers and approved the motion. The award amount recorded in the minutes is Thirty-five thousand two-hundred four-dollars and-zero-cents ($35,204.00).
Planning Director Stephanie Clevenstine explained the $15,897 certification of funds will be designated from the Clean and Green program and comes from interest collected on rollback tax payments when property owners remove land from the Clean and Green tax program. "The interest is collected annually from the clean and green roll back tax," Clevenstine said, and the recorded amount is what was collected in interest for 2025 and is being put into the Farmland Preservation Program. The board approved the certification of funds.
Earlier in the public-comment period, Doug Gayman, representing Farmland Preservation, gave an overview of a reorganization of members and announced applications for county farmland preservation interest are available through March 2, 2026 on the county Planning Department website.
