The Fulton County Board of Commissioners on Jan. 13 adopted the county’s 2026 pay scale and amended the HR Manual’s Section 212 to formalize an employee health-insurance opt-out payment.
HR Administrator Mary Huston presented the pay scale to the board. Commissioner Hervey P. Hann moved to approve and execute the 2026 Pay Scale; the motion passed unanimously. Commissioner Hann also moved to adopt the Health Insurance Waiver language in Section 212 of the HR Manual, which states that eligible employees who waive health insurance coverage will receive a prorated monetary payment capped at $1,020 per calendar year ($85 per month). The policy excludes any waiting period from the payment calculation and specifies that the opt-out payment will be paid with the final payroll in December or upon an employee’s resignation; employees must leave in good standing to receive the payment.
Interim County Treasurer Amy Bishop also presented the county’s month-ending financial reports and the board approved and executed the 2026 Certification of County Funds following a motion by Commissioner Bunch. The transcript does not record specific line-item changes to the budget tied to the pay-scale adoption or the opt-out payment.
The decisions took place during a meeting that included multiple executive sessions for personnel and legal matters earlier in the morning. The board recorded no public comment on the pay-scale or benefits changes during the meeting.
