Camp Verde hears assessment of cesspools, county funding options for abatement

Town Manager Miranda Fisher told the Town Council on Nov. 5 that staff attended a technical presentation later provided to the Yavapai County Board of Supervisors and that a Matrix New World report produced with ADEQ identified numerous cesspools in Camp Verde and potential risks to groundwater.
Dawn Capotosti, Environmental Health Unit Manager with Yavapai County Development Services, described county funding available to assist property owners with cesspool abatement and outlined the application process for residents experiencing financial hardship. Town Manager Fisher and Capotosti answered council questions about the assessment and funding eligibility.
Council members were asked how the Town should help publicize available resources and whether the Town could assist property owners in identifying eligible programs. Town staff did not present an implementation plan at the Nov. 5 meeting but indicated they would continue to coordinate with county partners and clarify assistance options for residents.
