Deuel County holds Student Government Day; commissioners approve agenda and adjourn

The Deuel County Commission convened a special session on Monday, March 9, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. in the Commission Room of the courthouse for the annual American Legion Student Government Day, Chairman Jay Grabow presided. Present were Commissioners Jay Grabow, Steve Rhody and Harry Mewherter; Commissioners Judith Homan and Scott Fieber were recorded absent. Auditor Courtney Parker was in attendance.

At the start of the meeting the commission opened with a prayer and the pledge of allegiance. Commissioner Steve Rhody moved to approve the agenda "as presented," and Commissioner Harry Mewherter seconded; all present voted yes and the motion carried. The agenda approval was recorded in the meeting minutes.

The commission hosted students from Deuel and Deubrook Schools for the American Legion Student Government Day. According to the meeting record, students observed court in session and then broke into small groups to tour county offices and a commission meeting to learn about the functions of each office. Students returned to school shortly before noon.
