County awards annual gravel contracts, discusses 610 Central project and accepts deputy sheriff's resignation

Highway Superintendent John Maul and the Road Committee presented final tabulations for gravel bids submitted February 22, 2022. The Board moved (Loeffelholz/Lynch) and awarded gravel contracts by zone groups: Ed Broadfoot & Sons Sand & Gravel (Zones 9—14), Mid-NE Aggregates (Zones 15—26), and T&F Sand & Gravel (Zones 1—8). The approvals were recorded by unanimous roll call.
Facilities Director Steven Gaasch reported on subcontractor bids for the county's 610 Central Project; Sheriff Neil Miller and County Attorney Shawn Eatherton joined the discussion. For the "best interest of Buffalo County," the Board took no action on the project at this meeting.
During Citizen's Forum Deputy Sheriff Justin Thorman addressed the Board to thank Buffalo County for his 15 years of service and announced his resignation from his full-time position. The Board recessed to serve as the Board of Equalization following these items and later returned to the regular meeting.
The Board adjourned the regular meeting until 9:00 A.M. on Tuesday, March 22, 2022.
