Veterans Affairs office budget increased by $12,893 after grant status reversal

Veterans Affairs Director Dan Perge told the board that the FY26 County Veterans Service Fund Grant had been changed to a reimbursement grant after the county submitted its budget, then later reverted to the original grant criteria. That reversal meant projects originally planned under the grant qualified for upfront funding rather than reimbursement.
The board approved a $12,893 increase to State Grant revenue (line 293-682-553.000) and a matching $12,893 increase to Grant Marketing expense (line 293-682-903.001). The motion to adopt the adjustment was moved by Commissioner Brenda Fournier, supported by Commissioner Lucille Bray and carried on a recorded vote with all members present voting AYE; Commissioner Travis Konarzewski was excused.
The adjustment restores planned outreach and marketing activities the Veterans Office had proposed for FY26. Perge said the funding change restored the department’s ability to pay for those activities without waiting for reimbursement paperwork to be processed. The board did not request additional amendments or conditions to the spending authorization.
The board’s approval allows county staff to proceed with the marketing and outreach work described in the Veterans Office packet; no additional votes were scheduled at the meeting.
