Buffalo County opens road bids, approves write-off and sets hearing to vacate portion of 39th Road

Highway Superintendent John Maul and county staff presented several Road Department matters to the Board on Nov.14.
Clerk Heather Christensen read bids for Project No. C10 (1007) Daykin Road and C10 (1012) Coal Chute Road; bids came from Morten Construction LLC, Van Kirk Bros. Contracting, Myers Construction Inc., and Adams Construction Co. The Road Committee and Superintendent Maul will review submissions and bring recommendations to the Nov. 28 meeting.
The Board voted to write off an uncollectable account for vehicle owner Carlos Vasquez in the amount of $2,459.24 after mail was returned as undeliverable (motion by Timothy Higgins; second by Bill Maendele). The motion carried.
Superintendent Maul presented a petition to vacate a portion of 39th Road between Odessa Road and Eagle Road; the Board received the report and, by motion of Ronald Loeffelholz seconded by Daniel Lynch, set a public hearing for Jan. 23, 2024 at 9:30 A.M. and adopted Resolution 2023-54 outlining publication and notice requirements.
