Buffalo County awards $1.05 million contract for 2024 asphalt overlays

The Buffalo County Board of Commissioners on Oct. 10 accepted the low bid from Werner Construction, Inc. to perform the county’s 2024 asphalt overlay projects at a total contract price of $1,050,000.
Highway Superintendent John Maul was present while County Clerk Heather Christensen read submitted bids for multiple culvert and bridge projects; those bids will be reviewed by Superintendent Maul and the Road Committee and returned with recommendations at the Oct. 24 meeting. For the asphalt overlay projects, Commissioner Daniel Lynch moved and Commissioner Myron Kouba seconded to accept Werner Construction’s low bid; the motion carried by unanimous roll call of members present.
The board also set a bid date of Nov. 14, 2023, at 9:30 a.m. for Projects C10 (1007) and C10 (1012) (Clay/Dirt to Road Top) after a motion by Commissioner Ronald Loeffelholz and a second by Commissioner Timothy Higgins.
Bids for the box culvert and bridge projects were read into the record and will be acted on after review by the road committee at the next meeting.
