Planning commission schedules special meeting and continues work on cemetery lot-size options

Charlotte County planning commissioners on Aug. 25 approved a motion to hold a special called meeting on Sept. 8, immediately following joint public hearings, to consider recommendations on Shepherd's Tavern Inc. and a tower conditional-use permit application. The motion was made by David Watkins, seconded by George Sandridge and carried with all members present voting yes.
Separately, staff told the commission they are researching options to address cemetery lot sizes in the county as requested by the Board of Zoning Appeals; no solution had been identified at the Aug. 25 meeting. The commission did not act on cemetery policy at the meeting and no deadlines were set.
The meeting adjourned after a brief discussion and an offer from Francis Hodsoll of SolUnesco to provide additional project examples and online resources that the commission may review.
