The Charlotte County Planning Commission voted Dec. 15 to request a joint public hearing with the Board of Supervisors on a conditional use permit application from Kerwin and Beverly Kunath for an event venue at 4475 Highway 59 in Keysville.
Staff presented the application and asked the applicant to clarify parking and property-conveyance details. Applicant Kerwin Kunath said at least 100 parking spaces would be provided and that the .34-acre parcel shown on the submitted plat had not yet been conveyed but was expected to close within about a month. He told the commission the driveway could be altered to use his existing property if the conveyance did not complete.
Commissioner Clark Poindexter moved to request a joint public hearing; Eugene Wells seconded. The motion carried with Kerwin Kunath abstaining and other members present voting in favor. The commission did not record an exact roll-call tally in the meeting minutes beyond noting the abstention.
The joint public hearing is the next formal step for the application; the commission did not take a final vote on the conditional use permit at the Dec. 15 meeting. The commission also set its organizational meeting for Jan. 26 at 7:00 p.m. and adjourned at the close of the agenda.
