Roosevelt County approves equipment purchases, calendar and indigent‑care claims; OKs $20,000 match for Arch VFD ambulance

Special Projects Coordinator Carla Weems told the commission a previously budgeted motor grader is available through CES Purchase Agreement #2202‑10‑C102‑ALL; the commission voted unanimously to approve purchase under that agreement. Weems also reported on HCAP (Indigent Healthcare Assistance) claims: 18 total claims had been submitted totaling $20,261.38; she recommended paying seven claims totaling $6,003.38 and denying the remainder because claimants either had Medicaid or were not detainees at the time of service. The commission approved the HCAP payments as presented.
Paramedic Tyler Watson presented on behalf of the Arch Volunteer Fire Department, requesting $20,000 from the county to meet the 25% match of a $70,000 requirement toward a $280,000 ambulance purchase. The commission unanimously approved the $20,000 match request.
The commission also approved Amendment No. 1 to the DWI grant (Grant No. 25‑D‑G‑23), a $19,000 supplemental award that brings the grant total to $181,000. Clerk Mandi Park presented a draft FY2025 county calendar; commissioners agreed to keep 18 paid holidays and set Employee Appreciation Day for Friday, March 14, 2025, and the calendar was adopted by unanimous vote.
