Gulf Shores bans alcohol on designated beach areas for Spring Break period

The Gulf Shores City Council adopted Resolution No. 7080-26 at its Feb. 9 meeting, prohibiting possession or consumption of alcoholic beverages on specified portions of the city's Gulf-front beach project sand areas during the Spring Break period designated as March 1–April 28, 2026.
The resolution describes the restricted area as east of the eastern boundary of Bon Secour Wildlife Refuge, west of the western boundary of Gulf State Park, and seaward of the line of sand-stabilization fencing installed by the city. The council cited prior findings that such a prohibition bears a substantial relation to health, safety and welfare and noted that public beach access for bathing, boating and fishing is not interfered with by the ban.
The resolution references Ordinance No. 1813 (adopted March 18, 2016) and states that violations of Section 4-8 of that ordinance are punishable as provided in Section 1-8(a) of the Code of Ordinances.
Council approved the resolution unanimously among members present. The resolution becomes effective upon adoption.
