Detention Administrator Shayla Ramsey told the commission the facility population was 51 — 44 male and 7 female detainees — with two out-of-county detainees and three releases since the morning count.
Ramsey said billing for February included $6,625 billed to Quay County. She reported five detainees participating in the medication-assisted treatment (MAT) program, ongoing group and individual counseling, and three detainees who recently tested for GED and are awaiting scores. Ramsey said the detention staff are fully staffed with recent academy graduates and trainees.
On health and safety, Ramsey reported four doses of Narcan were administered in the last two weeks across two incidents, ultimately saving two lives. She praised the body scanner for preventing contraband entry and said staff will receive continued training. In response to a public comment requesting baptisms, Ramsey said multiple staff are ordained and the facility is willing to offer baptisms provided they can be performed in a safe and sanitary manner.
The commission received the report; no formal action was taken.
