After an executive session on April 1, 2025, the Roosevelt County Commission directed staff to change the county’s travel policy so that hourly employees will be paid for hours worked during travel to conferences, trainings and workshops, provided proof of travel is submitted.
Commission Chair Tina Dixon said the directive followed consideration of a grievance related to the travel policy. Chair Dixon directed Human Resources Coordinator Mary Orozco to implement the written adjustments she provided. County Attorney Randall Van Vleck and other commissioners participated in the executive session; the chair later stated only agenda items were discussed in executive session.
Commissioners formalized the instruction after returning to open session and voted to acknowledge the chair’s statement about the executive session’s scope. The change to pay hourly staff for travel hours is effective for travel beginning April 1, 2025, and staff were directed to carry out the administrative changes.
