Commissioner urges full-time fairgrounds attendant after arena work; Little Wranglers to supply safety panels

Commissioner Malin Parker told the Roosevelt County Commission on May 30 that Road Superintendent Juan Dominguez had used the county's new rake and larger tractor to "deep break" the indoor arena surface but that the footing was "in good shape." Parker said the county needs an on-site attendant to manage stall rentals, maintenance and scheduling and recommended a full-time position working Thursday through Sunday to meet user demand.
Parker said he and County Manager Annette Kirk are evaluating a scheduling and rental app to coordinate bookings and inspections. The Little Wranglers board raised safety concerns at the previous meeting; Parker said the board will supply additional panels to expand the south end of the run for speed events and that a Mr. Levacy will perform the necessary dirt work. Parker told commissioners that hiring a full-time attendant would be a recurring expense that should be budgeted both this year and in future budgets. No formal action was required on the item.
The commission did not vote on staffing at this item beyond including staffing needs in broader FY26 budget discussions.
