Roosevelt County appoints committee to negotiate San Juan Mesa wind project

Commission Chair Tina Dixon proposed the committee and the commission approved nominations that included Commissioner Fabian Munoz, Commissioner Tina Dixon, County Manager Meadow Forget and Chief Deputy George Beggs. Assessor Stevin Floyd asked that an Assessor's Office representative, Ms. Wade, be included in the committee discussions; Beggs said he would include her in meetings.
The committee will be charged with reviewing and negotiating the details of project agreements presented to the county, including terms that could affect taxation, land use and county services. Commissioners did not finalize a public timeline for the committee’s work during the meeting.
The motion passed by roll call vote with Commissioners Paul Grider, Roy Lee Criswell, Tina Dixon, Malin Parker and Fabian Munoz recorded as voting yes.
The commission’s action follows outreach from a private developer, and Commissioner Dixon said the project area lies in her district and warrants direct commissioner involvement. The commission did not take further substantive action on project terms at the Nov. 18 meeting.
