Roosevelt County commissioners approve routine business, authorize seasonal finance hire after closed session

Roosevelt County Commissioners met Dec. 16, 2025, in Portales and unanimously approved routine business, ratified a grant application for an ambulance purchase and authorized a temporary seasonal finance position after an executive session.
Commission Chair Tina Dixon called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. The commission voted 5–0 to approve the agenda (motion by Commissioner Fabian Munoz, second by Commissioner Malin Parker), to adopt the minutes of the Dec. 2, 2025 meeting (motion by Commissioner Parker, second by Munoz) and to approve payroll and accounts payable for Nov. 1–30, 2025 (motion by Commissioner Roy Lee Criswell, second by Commissioner Paul Grider).
Darla Reed, DWI Program Coordinator, read a proclamation naming December "Drunk and Drugged Driving Prevention Month," and told the commission there have been three alcohol- or drug-related fatalities in Roosevelt County in 2025. Commissioners approved the proclamation unanimously (motion by Commissioner Paul Grider; second by Commissioner Parker).
At 6:46 p.m., the board entered executive session; those present were the five commissioners, County Manager Meadow Forget and County Attorney Michael Garcia (participating by Zoom). The board returned to open session at 7:23 p.m.; Commissioners stated only listed agenda items were discussed in closed session. While no action was taken in executive session, the commission voted 5–0 to allow County Manager Forget to open a Seasonal Temporary Financial Specialist position (motion by Commissioner Tina Dixon; second by Commissioner Grider).
