Fulton County approves $230,699.51 state grant for NG911 and related systems

Fulton County commissioners voted unanimously Dec. 30, 2025, to accept and execute a State Interconnectivity Grant in the amount of $230,699.51 to support multiple maintenance and upgrade projects for the county’s emergency communications systems. EMA/911 Director Brian Barton presented the grant request; HR Administrator Mary Huston attended the discussion.
The grant funds are designated for SouthCentral Mountain CAD maintenance, SouthCentral Mountain CHE maintenance, SouthCentral Mountain ESInet maintenance, Fulton NG911 GIS maintenance, a SouthCentral Mountain battery upgrade and Fulton ILEC maintenance. Commissioner Steven L. Wible moved to approve acceptance and execution of the grant; the motion passed with all commissioners voting in favor.
The board also discussed potential staffing related to 911 operations; the meeting record shows a subsequent motion to hire a Per Diem 911 Dispatcher, pending clearances.
