Northern Arizona Healthcare leaders briefed the Camp Verde Town Council on Jan. 7 about the organization’s strategic direction and local service changes. Rick Gray, Vice President and Service Area Administrator, and Susan Huerta, Operations Director, told council they face recruitment challenges, are planning for a regional hospital facility and a new hospital, and are working on retaining quality primary care providers. They provided a handout and said the Camp Verde clinic will transition from immediate care to urgent care in the coming months.
Councilors asked questions about staffing, the distinction between immediate care and urgent care services, and insurance-provider participation; Gray and Huerta responded. The minutes note the change in clinic service level but do not provide a specific date for the transition.
Mary Chicoine, Executive Director of the Verde Valley Community Development Organization, presented the organization’s vision and mission, housing-advisory representation, a developable land database, a draft study on housing construction costs, outreach and education programs, and next steps for the Verde Valley Community Land Trust. Chicoine answered council questions; the presentation was supported by Special Initiatives Manager Cliff Bryson.
Town Manager Miranda Fisher also announced that staff will host a series of Draft 2026 General Plan open houses in January and encouraged public and council participation in the outreach process.
