Summary
Council ratified Change Orders 1 and 2 for Community Park irrigation improvements (totaling $62,129.57) and awarded an engineering design contract for the Moonrise Drive watermain replacement to Valentine Environmental Engineers for up to $75,000.
The Town Council ratified two change orders on Jan. 21 to keep the Community Park irrigation improvements moving and approved design work for a separate watermain replacement.
CIP Manager Martin Smith explained Change Order No. 1 would connect a line to the ditch to provide irrigation water access and Change Order No. 2 covers a potable-water meter required for the work. Because the vendor was already on site and the mayor had previously signed approvals, Council ratified the two change orders, authorizing amounts not to exceed $32,316.57 (Change Order 1) and $29,813.00 (Change Order 2). The motion to ratify was made by Councilor Robin Godwin, seconded by Councilor Patricia Seybold, and passed 6-0 with Councilor Robert Foreman absent.
Separately, CIP Manager Smith described repeated leaks on Moonrise Drive that have increased emergency repair demands. After summarizing the RFP process and evaluation committee scoring, Council awarded the professional-services contract for engineering design of the Moonrise Drive Watermain Replacement Project to Valentine Environmental Engineers in an amount not to exceed $75,000; Vice Mayor Wendy Escoffier moved and Councilor Patricia Seybold seconded, and the motion carried 6-0.
Council directed staff to proceed with procurement and to include the change orders and design contract in project accounting; staff will report back on implementation milestones.
